Mr. Phua Yong Pin and Mr. Phua Yong Tat started HTL in 1976 as one of the first sofa makers in the island-state of Singapore. After achieving success in the local market, they turned their attention to acquire technical expertise for design, product development and production of leather sofas from Laauser GmbH, Germany.
Under their leadership, HTL has grown to become one of the world’s largest sofa manufacturer and leather tannery operator, winning accolades including “The Furniture Manufacturer Award”, “Top 100 Singapore Brands”, and “Singapore Top 100 Companies by Overseas Revenue”.
Forbes listed HTL as “200 Best under a Billion” for 4 years running.
The Phua Brothers have also received recognition for their entrepreneurial contribution to Singapore’s development, economic dynamism, management expertise and corporate transparency through awards “Businessman of the Year” and “SG50 Pioneers of Entrepreneurship”.
