HTL International Holdings Limited (HTL), traces its origins back to 1976, when it started out as a small furniture manufacturer. Founded by the three brothers - Phua Yong Pin, Phua Yong Sin and Phua Yong Tat -- the company has risen from humble beginnings to become one of the world's leading leather tanners and manufacturers of leather upholstery.
HTL was listed on the main-board of the Singapore Exchange in 1993. Supported by seven manufacturing facilities located across Asia, HTL exports more than 95 percent of its production output to 31 countries across four continents. It operates sales and marketing offices in seven key markets.
The company is vertically integrated and possesses manufacturing facilities ranging from leather tanning to cut-and-sew to the design and manufacture of leather upholstery. This provides HTL with a well inter-linked leather tanning and upholstery value supply chain which is the group's major competitive advantage.
HTL's turnover increased by 184% from S$153 million in FY2000 to S$435 million in FY2003. In addition, HTL's profit before tax has also increased from S$8.2 million in FY2000 to S$29.1 million in FY2003. For the third quarter of 2004, HTL's net profit before tax was S$32.3 million and its revenue was S$349.1 million.
